²⁸The term European is ambiguous in the New Zealand context for various reasons including the widespread presence of dual ethnicity. In this survey around seven percent of respondents reported dual ethnicity (mainly Maori and European). They have been included here as European as have those identifying as ‘Kiwi’ or New Zealander.
